The John Muir trail officially stretches 211 miles from Happy Isles in Yosemite Valley to the top of Mount Whitney. To exit at Whitney Portal you then have a bit over ten miles of descent. Making it a total of about 221 miles. We love this quintessential high Sierra hike and are grateful to have walked it three times, so far! I’m currently working on making slideshows of our journeys along this glorious trail.
