Sedona Respite

We quit hiking on the Arizona Trail as I was feverish and having urinary difficulties.  A quick visit to Payson Urgent Care got me a script for some antibiotics and we headed for Sedona for some free camping and R and R on Forest Road 525.

There are lots of folks parked along this road and we drive in a mile or so before we find a spot with a bit of a view.

Our view

The next day we arise and ride the dirt bike around and take a short hike to Faye Canyon and up to the graceful arch to the east of the trail.  There are lots of social trails to the arch, that funnel off the main trail.  It’s easy to find.

We then ride into town and eat at Whole Foods Market and hang around watching folks.  It’s always fun in a busy place like Sedona.

We hang out in the Sedona area for a few days and also hike the Airport Mesa Loop and around Mystic Mountain and Bell Rock.  Sedona is thought to be a spot on the planet that has energy swirls or ‘vortexes’.  You can check out this article for a map and info on the spiritual side of things here:https://detoursamericanwest.com/where-to-find-an-energy-vortex-in-sedona/

Hawkeye laughed about the whole idea of energy vortexes,  until we were sitting on the shoulder of Bell rock in a snow flurry and he had a weird experience of not needing to breathe and watching the snowflakes traveling through the rock.  He is very surprised by his sense of seeing beyond matter to the energy that all things are.   I’d read you don’t have to believe to  experience the special quality of energy here and Hawkeye’s experience is proof.  My experience was less dramatic, but I came away from Sedona with a strong feeling that I should slow down and really practice pausing through out my day.

All in all we had a insightful time at Sedona.  Free Camping, good food, high vibes, and many hikes.  Who knows, next time we might go for a UFO tour or get our auras photographed.
