The Arizona National Scenic Trail is a 790 mile long hiking trail across Arizona. It starts at the Mexico/USA border below Montezuma Pass and ends at the Utah/Arizona border north of the Grand Canyon. It passes through many ecological zones, as it crosses many 'sky island' mountain ranges. Due to this, the trail is much harder than you would think. The trail is steep in places, water scarce and the weather unpredictable. Twice we attempted to hike this trail as a thru, but failed. Once due to a physical injury and then due to the pandemic in 2020. We are currently hiking it in sections.
The trail is broken into 43 passages and three sections: Southern, Central and Northern.
Following is our section hike of the trail. We plan to finish the hike fall of 2023.
Southern Section:
La Cienega Creek to Molina Campground

Central Section:
Sunflower to Roosevelt Lake (Sobo)
